Angel woke up yesterday morning and left for work (late) because of a late night and when I woke up to get ready for work I noticed that he had left his wallet on the dresser.
So, I texted him and let him know.
Shortly afterward, he called me and told me that he had just gotten pulled over. He realized it was missing and the officer ran his name. THEN, the officer tells him that his license is SUSPENDED!
WHAT?!?!
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??
How did that happen?
Lucky for him the officer was nice and understanding and told him that usually they would impound his vehicle and put him in jail for having a suspended license. He let him go with a warning and told him that he needed to take care of that ASAP.
Now see, I believe it was last month that Angel told me he was pulled over and they ran his license and it wasn't suspended then.
Okay, wait...
Let's go back to the beginning....
A few months ago (I'm sure several), we received a letter in the mail stating that according to the new law in Texas, the DMV will be operating on a new point system. Depending on the amount of points you have on your licence, you will have to pay a certain amount of money EVERY YEAR until those points come off. The points are usually taken off after a certain amount of time without getting a ticket. (If this is the case, we would be paying for-ev-er!)
Now...ME...I'm a good law abiding citizen (yeah, right) BUT my significant other...has been racking up them points. So naturally he got one of those special letters letting us know that we owe money.
Apparently, Angel has 6 points.
6 points on his license (when we received the letter...I'm sure it was only 4) That means we only had a certain amount of time to make a payment before they suspend the license.
I'm could have sworn I payed that fine in full for him so that we didn't have to worry about it.
When he called today to see what was up, they said they never received the payment.
DAMN!
Then I remembered that when it was time to renew my license (cause it was expiring) they sent me a letter stating that they were declining to issue my new license because I had a fine I was supposed to pay from running a stop sign in San Antonio in 1995. (Ok, so I wasn't always a law abiding citizen)
Yeah, they get me now, 14 years later.
So, I called the DMV got whatever connections I needed to take care of this fine. Went online and paid it and my license came in the mail.
I don't know how I didn't pay Angel's fine.
Now we have to hurry up and get that fine paid for him so that they can re-instate his license so that he can continue to work.
I'm telling you man, I know people who like to collect points for stuff, but these are the kind of points I don't want to be hanging on to.
Do I have the only man here who is winning this game because he has the most points?
Cause you know...I don't think we want to win this one....every year.

Texas is a funny, funny state.

HAHAHAHA..yeah, I thought about that too. Me putting him at risk. THEN, I remembered...I'm not the one getting the tickets so why do I have to pay them for him. He needs to pay himself so that he knows what a pain in the ass it really is.
MOMTJ:
$104.00
Every year until the points come off. (the price will lessen as the points do).
i'd probably be in jail in texas then. but damn, 1995? those point should have been rolled over and died. they killing yall with that bogus law & bogus fines.
TUN:
The 1995 part was from a ticket I had gotten when I lived in San Antonio. They came back to bite me in the ass. I had to pay 165.00 but I don't have any points on my license.
My husband has them ALL!!
