My little spies.

First...My latest addiction: Sweet tea from Sonic.

Kids are funny. They will innocently tell you when your spouse does something wrong. Not that they are running around saying, "guess what Daddy did!" or anything. Here's how I found out a couple of things.

First little bit of info: Yesterday the kids and I went shopping for shoes and on our way back we were coming up to a light that has one of those cameras that catch people committing traffic violations at the intersection. As we were getting closer, Miah says, "get ready to smile and say cheese". I instantly looked at her and said, "What?"

Miah: There's a camera right there and the lights will flash so you are supposed to smile.

(Now, I KNOW there's a camera there and I also know that when Angel takes the kids to a certain spot out in the boonies to go fishing and play in the sand, they go through an area that has cameras to keep track of when someone comes in and goes out. Those lights flash every time.)

Me: Miah, this is an intersection. These cameras aren't supposed to be flashing when you go through unless you do something wrong.

Miah: They flash for Daddy.

Me: They SHOULDN'T flash for Daddy!

Miah: Well, they do (and with this, she proceeded to smile as we went through the intersection. There were no flashes for me).

Looks like I'm going to have to have a 'sit-down' talk with Angel.

Second bit of info: Whenever (rarely) I go to the beach with the kids and Angel. We drive on the beach for what seems like FOREVER. One day, Devyn told Angel, "Do donuts again!!"

Of course Angel flashes me a quick guilty look and tells him, "The sand isn't good enough here for it, Devyn."

YEAH, RIGHT!

Anyway, I just learned that Shelby has given me (along with others) an award! YAY!!! I've never had an award before. Here it is:

So, I'd like to give my speech now. *ahem...ahem*

I'd like to thank my kids for making my life as hectic as it is even though you guys are the best kids in the world (strictly biasedly speaking, of course). (I know that really isn't a word..but it's my word)

My husband for not doing a stitch of housework and always coming up with some insane reason for having to go to the beach constantly (also, thank you for taking the kids with you).

Cyn for watching my heavenly children and being there with me for that random moment when Devyn decided to make the word "BOOYAH" his new saying (I've heard him say this more than once).

My readers, whoever and wherever you are, for continuing to inspire me to get over my photo shyness and post ridiculous pictures of myself.

Also, thanks to.......wait...what is that. Do you guys hear that? Is someone playing music? It sounds like that music that plays when someone is talking too much after they get an award and they start encouraging you to hurry up right before they.........

P.S. This is for Shelby:

These are the shoes I bought for Dom.

Thanks Again!

Oh, kids are the best! Sure, they're great little informants until they turn on you. Like the other day when my four year old casually mentioned that we'd had yet another "pajama day" at the house, where we don't get dressed until about 15 minutes before daddy comes home from work!

I LOVE the kids telling on their dad... and so innocently! Angel better watch his back. That's classic. Aren't you glad that you have a blog to preserve these moments for posterity.

LOL! I learned the hard way that my kiddo will totally tell hubby things he doesn't need to know. I've tried to convince her that certain things are "our little secret" but invariably she then says "Hey Daddy, Mommy said this was a secret...BLAH BLAH BLAH" spilling whatever it was. *sigh* My 5 year old has precious little discretion!

Oh, and @ Lauren Horsley's comment - We totally do "jammies day" too, and I've been busted on it by my kiddo as well!

Cheers!

I hate being ratted out by my kids. But I love it when they turn the tables.

rotf at you husband getting busted! Kids do come in handy sometimes, don't they? And I loved your acceptance speech.

Oh my gosh..that whole post was hilarious...Soo soo funny...Don't you love when Daddy gets busted!

Your kids obviously hang out with mine...a few months ago my eldest told her father, "Mommy eats chips and salsa while doing her blogging stuff." I was so busted.

And I LOVE those shoes...must have them for myself and my girls.

Kids are the best surveillance you can get!

PS. McDonald's has great sweet tea too! We just moved to Florida and sweet tea is the arch nemesis to my weight loss. I love it so.

Happy SITSday!

I used to be a lil' spy for my Mom too with my Dad, he was always doing something silly that she didn't know about, LOL!

I found you from SITS!

Kids are brilliant for telling tales! The only problem is when they catch you doing something and tell on you!

Daddy's good at convincing the kids what is "really" going on!

My son is not old enough to tell on daddy yet but I can only imagine what he will tell me when he can talk!

That shoe needs it's own spot on your side bar... Really cool!

Gotta love it when the kids rat you out but it is so great when they do it in reverse.

Dads are fun like that, breaking the rules when mom isn't around. ;)

Congrats on your award. I can't wait till the day when I get my first blog award. :)

Kids will tell on us everytime. My daughter used to go upstairs and call my husband at work to tattle on ME when I fussed at HER.

...and YES...that Sonic sweet tea is...well...SWEET. I love it!

What is really bad is when your kids tell perfect strangers all your little secrets. Note to self: don't say anything in front of kids that I don't want repeated outsided these four walls!

Melissa said...

I love my kids and their honesty. Except when they are telling on me. Like when we go to Sonic and get something without Daddy and I try to dispose of the evidence before we pull in the driveway, by stopping at a gas station to throw everything away and one my kids leaves a straw wrapper on the floor and my white glove inpsector husband, who cleans out the van (I don't) finds it and say, "When did you go to Sonic?" (taking a breath) It's then I say, "Oh, that must have been left in here from the last owners of our van. They were such pigs!" :) I really don't lie like that...

Keys to the Magic Travel said...

My kids can so not keep a secret. And they are usually telling on Daddy. Like the time the mailbox ran into the side of my new van. Or that he does the "culdesac" with them. Which means...he goes really fast around and around our culdesac while the kids get out of their seatbelts and pretend to surf...

Peggy said...

Kids are good at that! And they keep us laughing.

Sherri said...

Kids tell it like it is!!!

Stephanie said...

My kids aren't quite old enough for that kind of "tattle taling" but some day I think they'll be my best spies.

Summer said...

Yeah- I would say kids and their big mouths are a great tool for keeping hubby in line, except that little tongue can be a two-edged sword... ::hides wrapper to last chocolate bar in vain::

thotlady said...

Ah, cameras in the intersections. I bet they catch a few indiscretions.

Michelle said...

Congrats on the award!

And yeah... I've had a few things come out from the wee ones. Him getting lost is of course my favorite!

Kimberly said...

Too bad kids have no filter for WHO they tell on! :) Kids say the darndest things...

Tami said...

That's why we have kids....to keep us updated on our hubbys - LOL!

I love this! It's just like reading about my own family -- and that makes me feel a lot better. :)

PS - I LOVE Sonic -- especially their ice. :)

Amy said...

That is so funny. You are so right, my kids tattle on "accident" alot!

HAHA sounds like someone is in trouble.

Those shoes are awesome. I think my oldest needs pair. His school wears uniforms but they aren't particular about the shoes. I am evil.

Happy SITS Day.

Too funny! I can't wait until my so is old enough to rat my hubs out!

Judy Schwartz Haley | CoffeeJitters.Net said...

Yeah, I can't get away with anything when kids are around either.

Gotta love the kids innocence! The list of tattle tales for the whole family...a very long one.

Wep said...

That is awesome. My nieces do that too. Mommy was SO mad at daddy last week and she slammed a door. I love to get all the gossip from the 3 year old because I know most of it is true :)

Melissa Lester said...

That is so funny! As long as you play it cool, you will probably find out about a lot more of Daddy's antics!

You've got quite the little spies working for you!

I was told recently by my four year old that daddy gets annoyed when mommy hides things on him (like his keys)! That is his excuse for loosing tthem!
