Angel thinks I'm a little retarded.

Who Cares!

He isn't going to be able to come home tonight because he has to work tomorrow during the day. He will be coming home after work and he is bringing Jenn with him.

SO....to let him know how much we missed him. I sent a couple of pic messages of his babies to his phone with these captions:

WE MISS YOU DADDY!!!

I MISS YOU TOO DADDY!!!

Yeah, I can just imagine him sitting in his backhoe (uh, that's a machine used for construction people...he doesn't actually have a lot of back up hoes or anything) or his loader looking at his phone and getting these pics.

I chuckled to myself for a little while today!

I was in between patients so I didn't have anything else to do.

In other news:

ANDY over at Wild ARS Chase gave me an award.

Check it out!!

Thanks Andy, much appreciated.

There are rules to this game so I will post them but as far as listing 6 bloggers to pass it on to...(do I know that many?) I will definitely get to that soon.

RULES...hmmmm:

1.) Spell "Creative" in an unusual way so as to add mystery

2.) List 6 things you love.

3.) List 6 Bloggers who you pass the Kreativ Blogger Award on to.

Okay...

DAMN...stupid word creative.

Listing 6 things I love:

1. Napping (which I should actually be taking advantage of at this time doing). I could nap anywhere at anytime. All I need is a pillow, blanket and some quiet and I'm all set. I think I was a cat in a former life. I just can't sleep sitting up in a chair.

2. Watching movies (preferably in bed). I am a big movie buff. I'm not the type of person who rushes out to the theaters to see a movie when it first comes out (cause I'm cheap as hell). I will however make sure that I get it AS SOON AS it hit blockbuster or hollywood video. (don't laugh)

3. Spending time with my best friends! I get to spend lots of time with Jenn and now this Thanksgiving my other best friend Lisa is coming from Houston to visit. I like the fact that I can keep the friends that mean the most to me and not lose track of them. I only have 2 but ....that's all I need.

4. My kids. Just looking at them and watching them grow (although I never see them growing..everyone else does). All of my kids will always be my babies. I'm so curious to see and know what they are going to be in their lives. It's an awesome feeling to see them making their own choices and learning from their mistakes. The best feeling in the world is knowing that they look out for each other even though they fight.

5. Having extended family (meaning my husband's side of the family). I have my own immediate family and I love them dearly..even though some of them piss me off from time to time, but knowing that I can always call or visit any one of my extended family members makes my heart swell.

6. Ice Cream. MMMMM. I know I'm lactose intolerant but WHO CARES. At least not me right now. I will eat all of the ice cream, cheese and dairy products I can until my body tells me otherwise. And...until then...my family will just have to suffer the wrath of my colon.

There. That's my 6 loves.

What I have to listen to

We just finished watching Devyn play his first soccer game. (they lost 7-0) No biggie. The kids had a good time and they all ran off the field smiling. I decided to take the kids to eat at Stars (it's a drive-in).
On the way, Devyn was complaining that his stomach was hurting.

Dom: Devyn, is it hurting cause you have to make CACA?
Devyn: No.
Me: Do you feel like you have to throw-up?
Devyn: No.

Ok, so we get there and park. We are all looking at the menu trying to decide what we want.

Me: Devyn, look at the menu, figure out what you want.
Devyn: I have to use the restroom.
Me: #1 or #2
Devyn: #2
Me: Alright, guys..we have to go home. We'll come right back (Stars is just down the street from the house anyway)
Miah: Aww, man! Well that's good cause now I can eat my nachos cause I can smell all of that cheezy goodness. (she bought nachos at the game as soon as it was over and I don't allow them to eat anything in my truck).
Me: At least when we come back we can have more time to decide what we want.
Devyn: I didn't even get to decide what I wanted yet.
Miah: That's cause you can't think when you have to use it.
Dom: See Devyn, I told you you had to do #2.
Devyn: I didn't then.
Dom: That's cause you were in denial.

So now we're home and I am just finishing this blog as Devyn walks out of the restroom.

Back to Stars we go!

VENT!

I HATE people who are self centered.
I HATE selfish people.
I HATE people that are so consumed with their own issues that they don't look at the real picture.

That being said...I'm pissed at my sister.

I called her yesterday to remind her that today is Miah's birthday (she's 9). I also reminded her that we will be having a little something for her this weekend and we wanted her daughter (our niece) to stay the night with Miah.
She told me that she has already told my niece all about it and that she was excited and that they already got Miah a present. Cool.

Here's the idiotic part. I also mentioned to my sister that one of my friends was coming to town this weekend too. You guys know her...Jenn.
As soon as I said that, my sister got quiet and then said..."ummmmm, I don't know about that."

See, the thing is that my sister and Jenn don't really get along. Actually, that's not true. My sister has ISSUES with Jenn. Jenn doesn't have a problem with my sister.

So, since I mentioned that my friend was going to be here this weekend...my sister decided that her daughter wasn't going to come and spend Miah's birthday with her. That none of them were going to come.

I told her that this weekend isn't about her or Jenn, it's about Miah celebrating her birthday and spending it with her only girl cousin that is her age. She didn't care.
I told her that she needs get over whatever petty shit she is holding on to (which has been several years now and no one remembers what the hell the issue is about) but she told me "I DON'T FORGET."
She's willing to make the kids miss out on occasions because SHE HAS ISSUES.

HEY! She don't have to come. I can pick up my niece and that can be that but she doesn't want that either.

My sister has been isolating herself (and her family) from the rest of the family and only when she wants something does she want to interact.

My brother in NY doesn't talk to her because she can be petty and selfish and he doesn't have time to deal with it.

When I moved to the Valley, I told her and her boyfriend that I want our children to grow up together as a family because we have been living in different areas of Texas for so long. I want us to attend functions together and grow.

Obviously, her selfishness is more important.

It's as if she hasn't burned enough bridges.

One thing she doesn't realize....she's starting to burn this one.

I called my brother yesterday to vent and he listened. He called me 4 times yesterday to chat. I think he knows it's really bothering me.

What should I do?

I will post a more upbeat post later this week about Miah's day.

Date Night.

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!

I didn't post that day because I was scrambling around trying to get the kids in order.

Thursday I had to go to the school and deal with a situation concerning Dom. He got suspended for writing threatening letters to another student.

I am trying to get him out of this public school and put him in a Charter School so that he can work at his own pace. The school here is basically designed to teach the kids of the Rio Grande Valley. The majority of the kids here are Mexican (or from Mexico) and at a different level intellectually. (Not meaning to offend anyone...but in these parts...it's true). A lot of the work is being done in class in a group so that everyone has a chance to learn and understand. Dom is constantly bored because he says that if the class doesn't understand something, they will go over it again the next day and then again the next until they get it. 3 days of doing the same thing would drive me crazy, especially if I already know the stuff.

Dom is already way ahead of the class because he has and IQ of 140. He was in the gifted and talented class but he decided he didn't want to do his work so they dropped him when his grades dropped ...a long time ago.

Anyway, the charter school will let him work at his own pace and move on to the next subject when he is ready. No waiting for the class to catch up. If he continues to complete his work correctly, He may be able to graduate in 2 or 3 years. (Depending on the speed of his pace).

That's what's going on with him.

Miah came home with a letter from school saying she can't return until she gets a vaccination she is missing. Luckily for me (and her) we got her up to date on her vaccines Thursday night at the night clinic. I just have to take a copy of her shot records to the school nurse.
This made Miah happy because she is not trying to miss school. She is proud of her perfect attendance. She has been a little sick but she wouldn't stay home.

Friday night we took the kids Trick or Treating and the kids weren't satisfied with the amount of candy they got. The kept wanting to hit up more houses. The next day, Miah and Devyn sorted the candy like civilized little kids. They divided ALL of it between the 3 of them and gave me the odd pieces.

Saturday Night.

Angel and I went on a date. My company had given me a $25 gift card for The Olive Garden AND since my company OWNS the Killer Bees Ice Hockey Team...we got free tickets and free T-shirts to see the game. It was Home Health Night and the majority of my co-workers were there.
When we first got to the Arena. A girl who works for the Arena came over and asked if we wanted to be the winners of the "Best Seats in the House". All we had to do was just stand there while she made her little speech and our faces were going to be on the Jumbotron. We were kind of embarrassed and we declined. She moved on.

LATER...she comes back and says she's going to give us a second chance but this time we would be featured as the Sweetest Couple...we didn't have to say anything, we won a dinner for 2 AND we got our faces plastered on the Jumbotron.

I also caught one of those shirts that they were throwing around. When I opened it up...it fit Devyn.

We drank 1 beer each cause they were $6. I just can't buy expensive beer like that. The water bottle was $3.

We left at half-time cause it was already 9:30 and we were super tired and all the food we ate at the Olive Garden was putting us in a coma.

This is the mascot for the Killer Bees.

Either way...we had a good time.

Translation PLEASE!

So, yesterday morning, I was sitting in my kitchen calling my patients to confirm therapy times. My mom and dad were here with me because I had picked them up to stay at the house in case Miah's school called and she needed to be picked up. She hasn't been feeling well and I knew I would be all over the place so I needed someone here to pick her up (the school is around the corner from my house).
Anyway, most of my patients speak spanish and my spanish really isn't all that good. I know enough to get info that I need or relay info about therapy but once they start going on and on thinking that I know spanish...I get lost.

I'm on the phone with a patient.
I'm asking them: "Quieres therapia a las doce?"
Their reply: "No, Quiero therapia mas tarde."
My replay to that: "No puedo porque mas paciones en la tarde."
Their reply: "Oh, Ok...si se quieres therapia a las doce"

Great, conversation over and we hang up the phone.
Okay...simple enough..right?

My mom is sitting there laughing at me.
My mom is Hispanic so she is fluent in spanish so I could easily just hand her the phone and let her conversate with them. I choose not to do this because I would really like to learn how to communicate with my patients on my own.
I ask her what is so funny.

She translates my convo for me:

Me: Do you want therapy at 12?
Them: No, later on.
Me: I can't because I have more PASSION later.
Them: Oh ok, yes I want therapy at 12.

You see my problem here, folks?

Apparently I confused the spanish word PACIONES with PACIENTES.
Pacientes means patients.
Paciones means passion.

No wonder they were so quick to agree.

Remember These?

I found them at Walmart!!
The kids have never heard of them (or, of course, tasted them) so I HAD to buy all 3 of them. I can't remember which one was my favorite. I think it was Boo Berry.
Either way...I got 'em.
I had to eat them with my lactose free milk cause I'm lactose intolerant (when did that happen?).
I can't remember if they actually taste the same as before.
Whatever.
It's a blast from the past. Who can beat that?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I seem to be the only one playing this game:

So this is what you do!!

Go to as many people as you want and "Boo" them.

Tell those people that they've been Boo'd

Take the pic and put it on your sidebar.

Link back to the person who Boo'd you.

That's it. Super Cool!

Thanks Drama Mama!!

HALLOWEEN

I like Halloween as much as the next person.

I like to dress up (or rather, dress my kids up) and get free candy as much as they do.

The only thing I'm not that big on is decorating my house for Halloween. I used to go all out at one time with the fake spiderweb stretched all over the house, lights ...even yard decorations.

Now...

I just have a few trinkets here and there.

This year..something simple. Since I have the house (and not a small apartment) I really want to save all of the major decorating for Christmas.

I will always carve a pumpkin though.

Last year's pumpkin:

This year's pumpkin:

Yes.....It HAD to be a skull!!!

Yes...I used a template...what? I'm not an artist so I can't do one freehand but the kids love them anyway.
I'm considering doing a few more and putting them on display.
