Movie Night Friday and rants

As far as the title goes, I'm going to see if we can make this a regular thing (the movie night, not the rant).

Angel was in Corpus yesterday for his RA infusion appointment and he stayed overnight. He wanted to fish a little bit before he came back. He said he caught a small shark...but he NEVER brings anything home.
Yes, I say that with a little bit of contempt because he always says he's going to "bring home dinner".

We starve.

Last night we watched Dead Like Me: The Movie.

We've seen the series and we loved it. Too bad it was only on for 2 seasons.

While searching for something to have delivered online, I stumbled across the movie so we are going to check it out.

Here's our setup:

There are:

Pickles...watermelon...bananas (along with some banana shake mix), strawberries (in case you wanted some in your shake)...mangos...grapes...uh....Goober peanut butter and jelly (in case I wanted a sweet sandwich)...and...

For me...Cheladas!!

What?!

I know it's a 6-pack but think....it's not really a six pack of BEER. They have to put clamato in there so I'm not really drinking a lot of beer. And, c'mon...CLAMATO...it's got tomatoes and other "supposedly" good stuff.

So, in my reality...it's sort of a healthy drink........that occasionally gives me gas.

Anywho...

The kids can have anything on the table they want during the movie...EXCEPT for my Cheladas!
It ain't THAT healthy!

You know I couldn't resist getting me some Goober. MMMMMM... I love me some goober. I don't care if the kids look at me funny and I know that the peanut butter in it is a little bit pasty but whateva!

Let me just say...I never stopped eating last night and I'm feeling like a Roley-Poley today.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday...Miah had her awards ceremony.

She was the only one in her class to be on the "A" Honor roll.
She got a certificate for perfect attendance (Devyn missed it by one day).
She received medals for commended performances on her Math and Reading TAKS test (she got 100 on both).

There was a little boy in her class who got the same thing except he was in the A-B Honor roll. I'm not sure of his actual score on the TAKS but he was commended (commended is a score of 90 or above) . I spoke with his mother at the ceremony and she told me that he would come home to her and tell her, "There's this girl in my class....I gotta beat her." He was trying to score better than Miah.

Poor baby....he just missed it.

She's on to him now...she's not going to let him beat her.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The other day, my sister and I went to Target to get some hair care products. We're black people in case some of you didn't know. Guess where we found our black hair care products?

Yeah.

They should be receiving my email soon.

For all of you people who think Target is AWESOME.....please, pick me up a relaxer (regular strength). It'll be at the BOTTOM of the basket.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It just never ends.....

What's wrong with this picture people?

Nope, I'm not talking about the employee more worried about his MP3 player, I'm talking about the fact that I just followed this dude inside the store while he was pushing this basket of trash. He had just cleaned out the trash containers from outside and he was bringing the trash inside using.........THE SAME BASKETS THAT WE USE TO CART OUR GROCERIES.

You better fucking believe that HEB heard from me too.

Shouldn't they be using a certain type of container for transfering trash?

I'm not too happy about that one at all either.

I'll keep you posted about this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other day...Devyn through a fit.

Now, here's the thing. My kids don't throw fits. Not where they are tossing themselves about the floor or kicking or screaming.

No fits here.

With that being said, you can imagine how shocked I was when I actually witnessed it. WHOA BUDDY!

We have this huge circular fan that Devyn likes to use in his room. We don't have central Air or heat but we have window units and I like to put that big fan in front of the unit because it circulates the cool air faster.

I had told Devyn to go and bring the fan out of his room and he did this type of jerky, stompy, hands flingy dance along with this grunty noise. I was like, "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT?" and he said, "It's cause I ALWAYS have to bring the fan."

That's when I knew it was a fit.

I didn't spank him because it's the first, only and last fit I ever saw him throw. But believe me...he won't be complaining about getting the fan again.

Decisions...Decisions...

So, this weekend Angel has to go to his Dr's appointment in Corpus.

He asked me if I wanted to meet him up there.
What would we do up there?
Go fishing?
It IS closer to the water and can make a quick trip to the beach but that would mean getting a motel room and we don't want to have to pay for a room again.
My co-worker said that if we don't go to Corpus maybe we could make a quick trip to Mexico for some liquor bottles.
Hmmmm...
I do love a trip to Mexico.
So..let's see........

Mexico....sleep at home....cheap liquor....cheaper all the way around

OR

Corpus...Angel is already driving his truck...I would have to drive up there in my truck WITH the kids resulting in 2 vehicles needing gas...renting a room....spending more and more money PLUS having to put gas in both vehicles for the ride home.......NO THANKS.

I think I prefer to stay home and relax and maybe have a small get-together.

I like staying home. It helps with my anxiety. For some reason, I've been having a lot of it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

On another note, it isn't looking very good for Dom as far as being able to attend Med Tech.

Since I've placed him in this school for him to be able to work at his own pace, he seems to have chosen a slow pace. He has these packets he's supposed to have completed to be able to graduate into the 9th grade and he is behind on his Language Arts packets by 3. He doesn't have enough time this week to complete and test on these packets in order to finish this school year and make it into the 9th grade.

This means he will have to stay in this same school next year as an 8th grader until he completes those packets and tests on them then he will be considered a 9th grader.

BUT....

I believe Med Tech will only allow students to attend coming into the school as a 9th grader once school starts.

I'm a little disappointed and really just frustrated with Dom for letting himself just slack off the way he did.

Of course, if you have read any of this blog from the beginning then you will know that this is the story of my life.

This is what we go through every year.

It's nerve racking.

What really gets me is that he may be missing out on an opportunity and he blew it. Whether he knew he wanted to go to Med Tech before or if it's something new he wanted to do...he should have kept up with his work.

Whatever the outcome...it will be a lesson learned.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Another reason for my anxiety is that Angel may be leaving in a few months with the company to go work in either Dallas or New Orleans.

For how long?

I don't know. But I know it will be until the job finishes. And if anyone has ever worked in construction or knows of anyone who works in construction, then you know that deadlines are never met and work takes longer than anticipated.

It could be years.

This sucks.

Just when I need him most with my kids changing and growing and needing a father around them.

What do I do? How do I manage this by myself? I know I used to do it before but they were much younger then and idle threats were major components in discipline back then.

It used to work.

Now they are just shrugged off.

I guess we will see what happens and if you guys will see me on some talk show cause Devyn has become lead pimp in the neighborhood or Miah is head of the local gang...then....

Send help.....Please.

Trying to Catch Up.

Hey Everyone!!

How was your weekend?

How was your Holiday?

Ours was GREAT!

Yes, we did make it out to the beach and it was a much easier trip than usual.

We reserved a room for 2 nights on the Island and we spent a whole day on the beach.

Here we have "base camp". See that nice blue canopy there? I took a nice 2 hr nap in that red lawn chair. Don't ask me how I did it? I can't sleep anywhere outside or to the sound of waves crashing or birds cawing or kids yelling.....

But, I did and it was AWESOME!

I woke up feeling like I needed some beers. It's a good thing we had some.

Later, we changed locations and my husband's friend caught a fish. (I forgot what kind it was because I was too busy digging in the cooler for more beer)

The kids did what they always did....ran straight to the water. Of course, you know I will throw a random skull in the post so here it is...with Devyn headed to the water.

The kids were in and out of the water ALLLL day.

Okay, Here I am. I got in the water but only up to my hips cause I have this thing about all that sand. If the sand gets on me too much I feel like I have to rinse it off and the water doesn't really help cause it just makes me feel and taste salty...ughhh.
I'm not a big fan of salt.
We all had a great time and then we headed back to the hotel so that the kids (water babies) could swim in the pool.
The best thing is we avoided the holiday crowd. We were on the Island Friday night and Saturday night and returned home on Sunday.

On our way back there were a line of cars miles and miles long of people trying to get to the Island.
When we got home we took a short nap (not like we had a choice, our bodies gave out on us) then we went to my SIL and BIL's house for a couple of hours for a BBQ and beers.

MONDAY:

The kids had school yesterday (WHAT?!?! on a HOLIDAY?!?!) Yup. Their last day of school is this Friday so it doesn't matter. Angel and I had a chance to have lunch together and just chill. We hardly ever get a chance to do that without the kids so we took advantage.

We were supposed to be cleaning house and doing laundry but only one load got washed and Dom just barely put that load in the dryer this morning...oops.

Devyn had a baseball game and they lost 7-5. This loss takes them out of the running for 1st place. We have 2 more games left and they are both against the Rangers.

First game is tonight.

We've got to beat them.

-------------------------------------------------------------

On a sadder note. My Dad is in the Hospital in NY. My parents are visiting my brother and his heart gave out. His pacemaker shocked him 9 times and my brother was there to witness the whole thing. It must have been very traumatic for everyone. From what I know right now, he's doing "Fine" and there are talks of replacing his pacemaker.

I'm not sure of the details but everything is still undecided so me being so far away kind of leaves me out of the loop a little until more info is gathered.

I love you Dad.

Heading Out...

First of all, I just want to thank all of the commentors on my last post.

I really appreciate the advice, all of the info and the fact that you shared some of your experiences with me via comment...lol.

This is going to save me sooo much $$$ in therapy. I will be able to refer back to the last blog when the time comes for Miah and Devyn to start doing the same thing. Hopefully, this won't be happening ANYTIME soon.

One child at a time, please.

Now, It's Friday and we are getting ready to head out to the beach this evening. Angel is off today so he will be doing most of the packing. I'm supposed to be working. I'm here because I only have one patient left but not until another 20 min or so.

So, technically, I'm not even here...

We rented a room for 2 nights at the beach and a few of Angel's friends will be out there hanging out with us and I believe one of my friends from work will most likely head out there for awhile too. She works with me. Now, normally I don't want to hang out with the people I work with but she's already gone to Mexico with me so....it's cool.

Hopefully my SIL and BIL can make a trip out there.

It's going to be a great weekend. I already re-arranged my patients so that I can be off Monday.

I'm ready!

2 whole days on the beach....in the hot sun....drying up like a prune.
(Stop thinking like that Sheila!!)

No, really...it's gonna be fun standing in line to use the Port-A-Potty. Lucky for me..we brought our own. So now I only have to fight off my family members and friends.

Oh...it's going to be so hot...I hope we have sunblock SPF2000. I'm gonna need it.

Alright, I'm ready.

OK...OK...
IF you know me at all...then you know I won't be spending ALLLLL day on the beach.

What am I? Crazy?

Naw...I'll be out there......some.

What are you guys doing?

(UPDATE) The Birds and the Bees + Wireless Internet =

What do you do when it comes time to have "The Talk" with your kids?

Do you have to plan a time to sit and do it?
Is there a certain age that's appropriate for it?
How do you know it's time for it?
Do you know exactly what you are going to say?
Is it rehearsed?
Are you prepared to answer questions?

I wasn't thinking ANYTHING about this or what I would do/say when it came time to have "The Talk". I mean, c'mon..who is actually prepared for these things?

No one.

BUT... (dammit) I think it's time.

We all know Dom, right?

Well, just recently, we sent the kids to bed and since he's been in trouble I make sure to take away the phone and any of the electronics because I don't want him up at night texting people or playing games when he should be sleeping.

So, I went to his room to get the phone and the door was locked.

I knocked and asked why it was locked and he said because he was changing.

Yeah...

So anyway, I get the phone and take it to my room. I check the texts (cause that's what mommies do) and I came across a few texts between Dom and his girl cousin.

One texts said, "I downloaded p-0-r-n my PSP."

Now, I was like...What? No way...

So I went back (because I totally forgot that he even had a PSP) and asked him for the PSP.

This was the look I got...

With that...I knew something was up.

I told him that I read the text that said he downloaded the p-0-r-n and I wanted the PSP. He handed it over and I took it to my room to figure out how to work the damn thing. I finally found the power button and still had trouble figuring out where to go.

After a short time....I found it.

There was like 55 min of hard-core on there!!!

I was like...HOLY CRAP how in the hell did he download it on his PSP? I have been locking up the computer so he hasn't had access to it.

Then I remembered...Dear Uncle Bobby gave me that wireless router for my anniversary.

Instant Access!! Thanks Bro.

No wonder Dom didn't care if he got sent to his room.

So...of course, like Mommies do...we wake up our husbands to point out our findings and just like unfazed Daddies do......he remained...unfazed.

I went back to Dom's room...with a belt...and whooped his ass.

Dom is 14, he didn't shed a tear.

He's almost taller than I am for goodness sake.

I didn't spank him because of the flick (I don't think) I whooped his ass because I'm pretty sure he was trying to get his girl cousin involved (no..not in sex.. just to show her). She's got enough to deal with in her teenage life and she doesn't need my son to be running around showing her this stuff.

Anyway, this is the milestone in Dom's life.

I think.

He's interested/curious about sex so whooping his ass him isn't going to do it anymore.

So...now....guess who has to sit Dom down and give him the talk?

I sure hope Angel is ready for this...

UPDATE:
So I communicated with
Capricorn about this situation and he called me a "SPAZ" cause "p0rn and masterbation is normal" <--- his words.

Yeah, I know and...maybe so.

I may have jumped the gun on spanking Dom and now I feel guilty because I panicked. I know spanking him shouldn't have been the answer but...

DUDE....I PANICKED!!
First child...First "sex" experience. Not what mommy wants to see or know just yet.

I know it's normal. I'm not going to stick Dom in a monestary...just yet.
(kidding)

Still....
Can we wait a little while longer before we have to do all of this?
I mean, I'm still having to deal with telling him to put "bigger" clothes on and stop letting his ass show cause his pants keep hanging. (watch out Dominique. I'm going to pull them down sometime if you keep wearing them like that)

Ughhh...that's what I get for not expecting the unexpected.

And just so you know...Dom is fine. We still carry on the way we always have...just without the p0rn on the PSP

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a better note...I am taking Dom out of that Charter school he is going to because I had a talk with his Doctor and he suggested enrolling him into Med Tech.

This is a small discription of it...

A dynamic partnership between:
Schools
Colleges and Universities
Medical Facilities
Together we address the need for medical workers that are highly skilled in advanced technologies.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 19 percent of all new jobs created between 2006 and 2016 will be in health services—3.6 million jobs. Through the integration of academics, medical, technological and vocational opportunities our goal is to become a new kind of medical high school that produces medical leaders for the 21st century.
Med Tech allows you to apply your academic and medical skills to real world settings. You will have an opportunity to explore the broad fields of medicine and advanced technology to help you make career decisions.

Now see, this is awesome!!

I called and they receptionist told me that there were still 30 spots available for enrollment and that I could enroll online.

So...I did.

Check out their four year course sequence:

I don't know...I know my baby is smart but I told him, "There's CALCULUS on there. I don't know calculus".

I won't be able to help him.

Then he got into this...."How do you not know calculus?? Didn't you have to know it to get through high school??"

NOPE.

Not many, many moons ago when I was in High School.

Anyway, It's in another city about an hour or so away so he will be bussed. Hopefully, this will be a big enough challenge for him!!!

I'm excited.

He's excited.

This is going to be AWESOME!

Rackin Up Dem Points

Angel woke up yesterday morning and left for work (late) because of a late night and when I woke up to get ready for work I noticed that he had left his wallet on the dresser.

So, I texted him and let him know.

Shortly afterward, he called me and told me that he had just gotten pulled over. He realized it was missing and the officer ran his name. THEN, the officer tells him that his license is SUSPENDED!

WHAT?!?!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME??

How did that happen?

Lucky for him the officer was nice and understanding and told him that usually they would impound his vehicle and put him in jail for having a suspended license. He let him go with a warning and told him that he needed to take care of that ASAP.

Now see, I believe it was last month that Angel told me he was pulled over and they ran his license and it wasn't suspended then.

Okay, wait...

Let's go back to the beginning....

A few months ago (I'm sure several), we received a letter in the mail stating that according to the new law in Texas, the DMV will be operating on a new point system. Depending on the amount of points you have on your licence, you will have to pay a certain amount of money EVERY YEAR until those points come off. The points are usually taken off after a certain amount of time without getting a ticket. (If this is the case, we would be paying for-ev-er!)

Now...ME...I'm a good law abiding citizen (yeah, right) BUT my significant other...has been racking up them points. So naturally he got one of those special letters letting us know that we owe money.

Apparently, Angel has 6 points.

6 points on his license (when we received the letter...I'm sure it was only 4) That means we only had a certain amount of time to make a payment before they suspend the license.

I'm could have sworn I payed that fine in full for him so that we didn't have to worry about it.

When he called today to see what was up, they said they never received the payment.

DAMN!

Then I remembered that when it was time to renew my license (cause it was expiring) they sent me a letter stating that they were declining to issue my new license because I had a fine I was supposed to pay from running a stop sign in San Antonio in 1995. (Ok, so I wasn't always a law abiding citizen)
Yeah, they get me now, 14 years later.

So, I called the DMV got whatever connections I needed to take care of this fine. Went online and paid it and my license came in the mail.

I don't know how I didn't pay Angel's fine.

Now we have to hurry up and get that fine paid for him so that they can re-instate his license so that he can continue to work.

I'm telling you man, I know people who like to collect points for stuff, but these are the kind of points I don't want to be hanging on to.

Do I have the only man here who is winning this game because he has the most points?

Cause you know...I don't think we want to win this one....every year.

Crappy Weekend.

This past weekend was shitty. With the exception of 1 AM thru the rest of Sunday.

All I want to know is:

How come you can put yourself out there to help and be there for everyone but when the time comes when you need a shoulder to lean/cry on...you get crap?

I drove to Corpus by myself and spent Friday evening and all of Saturday there. I decided to come home early because the support that I was looking for just wasn't there. Was I expecting all of Corpus to rally together and throw me a pity party?

No.

I just wanted my best friend to "be there".

Wasted. Fucking. Trip.

Wasted. Fucking. Money.

But, rest assured.....I won't be sticking my neck out to help ANYONE the way I've been helping. Everyone can just worry about their own damn selves. Please, no one call me with your problems.

I don't want to hear them. I really don't care anymore.

Obviously, I've got my own problems so there will no longer be room for yours.

Or yours.

Or yours.

I won't be traveling anywhere to be helping anyone. Those times are past.

I'm just going to be worrying about Me and Mine.

Now, with that being said, I had a better Sunday so I guess that makes up for the shit weekend I had.

Angel was at the beach with the kids so when he came home with them Sunday afternoon, we all had movie night.

Yes, with Pickles and Popcorn.

(Only Miah and Devyn are in the pic because Dom went with Angel to my Mom's house to clean up doggie poop. So, Bro....tell Mom and Dad that we're on top of it and that the house is secure.)

We watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Madagascar 2.

Miah had been wanting to watch Ben Button so we did and it was really good. Madagascar....Hilarious. None of the kids got bored. We watched both movies and had a good time. Then it was time for the kids to get ready for bed.

I got to lay in bed and watch a marathon of Medium that I had been saving to watch with Angel but I figure they will be well into the next season by the time Angel actually sat to watch them.

At the moment, UFC is taking priority.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been tagged by Cheryln over at The World Through My Eyes.

I'm going to get to that this week, don't worry.
I was just looking at her post and it has a '8 Things I did yesterday' section. I was thinking...I didn't do much yesterday but sit on my ass and watch Movies. So the list would look more like:
1. Took a shit.
2. Wiped.
3. Wiped again.
4. Flushed.
5. Washed hands.
6. Sat on the couch (again)
7. Ate pizza.
8. Watched movies.

Yeah, not to appealing huh?

Anyway, to me, these things take thought. It's too early to think. I will work on it tonight. I might have to make some stuff up for filler.

Can't wait until this weekend. I should have 4 days off (if I can play my cards right) so we will most likely be spending it at the beach.
I don't know if I will survive 4 days on the beach. Maybe there will be a motel involved to help me get through the rough times. (and by "rough times"...I mean when the sun is out).

Toodles.
